From the establishment of computer labs and internet connectivity to the proliferation of personal devices in classrooms, the role of technology in education has become more prominent. This paper focuses on the potential of emerging and imminent technological advancements to revolutionize language education, akin to the transformative effects of computers, smartphones, and desktop publishing software. It begins by examining the historical development of educational technology in language learning and defining emerging technologies. Subsequently, it explores several advancements in the field and discusses their potential implications for language teachers and the broader language education community.
