The intersection of artificial intelligence (AI) with traditional cultural expressions offers new possibilities for preserving and promoting cultural heritage in Nigeria, particularly for the Izon (Ijaw) community. This paper explores the convergence of Izon (Ijaw) music and dance, an integral component of Nigeria's cultural heritage, with Artificial Intelligence (AI). The study examines how AI technologies can preserve, promote, and innovate the cultural expressions of the Ijaw people, which currently is being buffeted by globalization, and infiltration by western media imperialism. The quest to avert the risk of cultural erosion and annihilation of the cherished Ijaw cultural dance and music calls for plausible alternatives to culture preservation and highlighting the potential opportunities for national integration. As AI technology evolves, it can be utilized to document and digitize the rich musical and dance traditions of the Ijaw people, ensuring their survival for future generations. AI can also create new platforms for sharing these cultural expressions globally, thus enhancing cultural exchange and fostering national unity. However ther is the need to also examine the potential risks of cultural homogenization or loss traditional practices in the face of increasing AI-Driven cultural exchange. Through a review of existing literature and analysis of case studies, this research underscores the importance of utilizing AI to foster unity in Nigeria’s diverse cultural landscape. This paper argues that, with careful and ethical implementation, AI can play a significant role in preserving Izon cultural heritage while contributing to Nigeria’s broader goal of national integration. Balancing technological advancement with cultural sensitivity is essential to ensure that AI serves as a bridge in promoting cultural diversity and unity.
