His philosophy of nonviolence, truth, and selfless service has permeated various aspects of society, including the realm of literature. Gandhi made significant contributions to literature through his own writings. His autobiography, "The Story of My Experiments with Truth," remains a seminal work that offers personal insights into his journey and ideologies. Gandhi also expressed his philosophy through essays, speeches, and letters, which have become important literary texts. Furthermore, his influence extended to literary criticism and theory, where his ideas and principles shaped discussions and interpretations of various literary works. Mahatma Gandhi's life and teachings have influenced numerous literary works, including autobiographical accounts, biographies, fictional representations, poetry, songs, and other forms, providing insights into his philosophy and impact. This article explores the profound influence of Gandhian philosophy on literature, examining its influence on literary movements, authors, and discourse. It examines Gandhi's works, both fictional and non-fictional, and his own contributions as a literary figure. The article also addresses challenges and critiques in translating Gandhian ideals into literary works and explores the future of sustaining this influence. The Gandhian influence on literature continues to inspire contemporary writers to tackle modern challenges, such as environmental sustainability and social justice.
