Language, poetry and music intersect in activities which aim to strengthen fifth grade students’ creativity, their collaborative skills and their interest in poetry as well as to familiarise them with poetry and music composition. The activities include i) the composition of haiku poems and short narratives that lead conceptually to the haikus and ii) song composition. The students (N=14) demonstrated a positive attitude towards the activities and cooperated effectively with their team, whereas their interest in poetry increased. They were enthusiastically engaged in songwriting, an activity the majority of the students had not previously participated in.
